Virgin London Marathon

Be part of the Concern team!

As a fundraising event, there is no race in the world that comes close to the London Marathon.  Starting from Blackheath, near Greenwich, it’s a flat and fast course that runs through many famous London districts and past many landmarks, including the Cutty Sark and the Tower of London.

Whether you are a seasoned marathon runner or a complete beginner, we want to hear from you.

We recognise that running the London Marathon is a big commitment, both in terms of the physical challenge and in undertaking to raise £2,000 / €2000 for our education projects in Sierra Leone. If picked to be part of our team we will do everything we can to make your life easier and help you succeed in every way – we guarantee it will be a great experience!

There is plenty of time to train and fundraise and we will be providing lots of support, tips and advice along the way.

What can you expect from Concern?

As part of our team you will receive:

  • An exclusive Concern t-shirt and specialist running vest
  • Regular training tips and emails from experienced marathon runners
  • A team training and briefing day to share running hints and tips
  • A full fundraising pack, posters, sponsorship forms and materials
  • Support from the Concern Worldwide Community Fundraiser
  • Regular up-dates on the work you are supporting
  • Great race day support with a Concern cheering team on route and a post event reception

Go on – raise that money!

Funds you raise for the London Marathon will directly support our education work in Sierra Leone. You will help us to build and equip primary schools, provide textbooks and learning materials in existing schools, enable teachers to access quality training opportunities, as well as support local committees to manage their schools in the future.

You will be offering many a helping hand to break out of the poverty cycle and improve their quality of life tremendously. We therefore very much hope that you will put as much effort into fundraising as I am sure you will for the big race itself!

You may be an experienced fundraiser, or this might be your first time, but don’t worry as we’ll give you as much help and support as possible.
